Resolution No. 891 of 1999 authorizing the cultivation of tobacco and Persian tobacco in Syria.

This Resolution is composed of 17 articles. The cultivation of tobacco and tinbac (Persian tobacco) shall be carried out only in the authorized areas by the General Administration of Tobacco (arts. 1 and 2). Cultivate of tobacco and Persian tobacco in the coastal and internal areas up to the altitude of 150m after 15 May and in the mountains after 15 June is prohibited (art. 10). Extirpation of tobacco roots shall be carried out before 1 November (art. 11). Cultivation of tobacco will be allowed after a previous authorization issued by the General Administration of Tobacco (art. 12). The list of farmers shall be established by the General Administration for Tobacco (art. 14). Provisions and rules of Resolution No. 16/LR of 1935 will be applied in case of violation of this Resolution (art. 16).
