Abstract
This Act of 9 articles aims to establish the Eswatini Cane Growers’ Association as a corporate body with perpetual succession, capable of legal action. Article 4 states that the Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives may impose an annual levy on growers based on sucrose supplied to millers, with the Association determining its amount, payment method, and due date. Under article 7 the Association shall use the levy proceeds to cover operational costs, including employee wages, and to support activities aligned with its objectives.
The Schedule includes the Eswatini Cane Grower's Association Constitution consisting of 64 articles. Article 16 sets out the objectives of the Association which represents and supports sugar cane growers in Eswatini by promoting their interests, fostering industry development, engaging in policy advocacy, overseeing industry agreements, negotiating with millers, facilitating knowledge sharing, and ensuring sustainable growth of the sugar sector.
