Royal Science and Technology Park Act, 2012 (Act No. 5 of 2012).

This Act, consisting of 21 articles, aims to establish the Royal Science and Technology Park (a Category A public enterprise) governed by a Board ensuring effective governance, strategic direction, and the advancement of science and technology in line with national priorities. The Board’s functions mainly encompass leadership oversight, policy coordination, financial supervision, and the promotion of science and technology. It is responsible for appointing and determining the remuneration of the Chief Executive Officer (subject to approval), delegating powers, and monitoring performance through regular progress and financial reviews. The Board also coordinates and aligns science and technology policies and programmes with national objectives, while advising the Government on financial needs, legislative measures, and broader strategic matters. In addition, it plays a key role in promoting scientific culture and public awareness, supporting the establishment of research institutions, fostering national and international collaboration, and attracting investment in science and technology initiatives. It also approves budgets and action plans, provides guidance on implementation, and reports regularly to the Minister. Under Article 10, a chief executive officer is established, responsible for the management of the Board's business, its administration and organization, and the appointment and control of the Park's staff.
