Abstract
This Act aims to control the practice of animal husbandry to the same standards.
“Animal husbandry profession” mentoned in the Act means a profession related to the production of pets, including: improving and nurturing pet breeds, pet food management, sanitary management of pets. But it does not include the practice of veterinary medicine according to the law on veterinary profession. “Pets” means animals raised for human consumption, use, produce or satisfaction, and shall include wild animals that can be possessed for commercial or economic purposes according to the law on wildlife conservation and protection, but does not include animals that are aquatic animals according to the law on fisheries and pets of owners or small farmers (Section 3).
The Animal Husbandry Council shall be established. The objectives of the Animal Husbandry Council include: (1) Control and set standards for the animal husbandry profession; (2) Control the behavior and operations of the animal husbandry profession to be in accordance with the ethics of the animal husbandry profession; (3) Promote education, research, and the practice of the animal husbandry profession; (4) Assist, advise, disseminate and provide academic services to members, including farmers, citizens and other organizations regarding the animal husbandry profession; etc. (Section 5-6). In order to practice the profession of animal husbandry, a person must register and receivea license from the Animal Husbandry Council (Section 29).
