Abstract
This Ministerial Regulation is issued by Thailand’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, restructuring the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning. It repeals previous regulations of 2017 and 2021 and redefines the office's responsibilities to align with evolving environmental challenges. The office is tasked with formulating national policies, plans, and measures for sustainable natural resource and environmental management, coordinating with domestic and international agencies, and overseeing environmental quality, biodiversity, and impact assessments. It also manages the Environmental Fund and supports legal, administrative, and strategic development functions.
The regulation outlines the internal structure of the office, dividing it into specialized divisions such as biodiversity management, environmental impact assessment, environmental strategy, and community and special area management. Each division has clearly defined roles, from policy development and international cooperation to data management and public engagement. The restructuring aims to improve the agency’s capacity to address complex environmental issues, including climate change, and to ensure effective implementation of national and international environmental commitments.
