Abstract
This Regulation prohibits to employ any person under 18 years of age to work onboard fishing vessels. However, Section 5 allows children under the age of 18 years old but over 16 years old to work on fishing vessels as apprentices. Every commercial vessel will be allowed to recruit one apprentice. This individual must be a relative of the vessel owner or captain and hold a training certificate. The vessel owners or operators shall provide adequate hygienic food and drinking water, toilet, medical supplies and medicine for basic first aid (Section 18) and knowledge to fish workers about the use of tools, equipment, and safety while working on fishing boats (Section 20).
