Abstract
This Regulation lays down rules for the safety, health and welfare of the crew of fishing vessels. It sets out separate provisions for (i) fishing vessels of a size of thirty gross tons and below; (ii) fishing vessels of a size of thirty gross tons and above but less than sixty gross tons; and (iii) fishing vessels of a size of sixty gross tons and above. The owner of a fishing vessel of a size of thirty gross tons and below shall provide safety tools, equipment and ship equipment and life jackets to the crew of fishing boats in accordance with the ship inspection regulation. The owner of a fishing vessel of a size of thirty gross tons and above but less than sixty gross tons shall provide food and drinking water that are of good quality, hygienic and in sufficient quantity and necessary medicines and medical supplies for first aid. The owner of a fishing vessel of a size of sixty gross tons and above shall provide areas for resting, eating and recreation appropriate to the number of crew members and the duration of fishing trips and toilet.
