Abstract
This Act is enacted to establish mechanisms for surveillance, prevention, and control of occupational and environmental diseases.
The Occupational and Environmental Disease Control Committee shall be established. The Committee's duties and powers include:(1) Propose policies, strategies, and plans for surveillance, prevention, and control of occupational and environmental diseases at the national level; (2) Propose areas that require surveillance, prevention, and control of occupation and environmental diseases; (3) Give opinions to the Minister in issuing ministerial regulations, regulations, and announcements for the implementation of this Act; (4) Establish action plans, systems, and guidelines for surveillance, prevention, and control of occupational and environmental diseases; etc.
The provision of occupational medicine or environmental medicine services must be performed by a service unit registered with the Department of Disease Control or any other government agency which must have qualifications according to the criteria and conditions announced by the Minister with the advice of the committee. The Act further makes provisions, inter alia, for: measures for surveillance, prevention and control of occupational and environmental diseases, the competent official, offences and penalties.
