Abstract
The purpose of this Act is to regulate the control of pathogens and animal toxins.
In this Act, "Animal toxins" refers to animal-derived toxins which are capable of causing illness or disease in humans, livestock, animal carriers, or other animals specified by ministerial regulation. In order to produce, possess, distribute, import, export, or transit pathogens or animal toxins, a permit from the Director General of the Medical Services Department shall be obtained. The Act provides for the rules to be satisfied for the application, issuance, validation and renewal of the permit. The Act further provides for the obligations of permit holders, offences and penalties, etc.
