Abstract
This Royal Decree is enacted in accordance with the Wildlife Preservation and Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019), establishing a 20-year conservation project for natural resources within designated wildlife sanctuaries and no-hunting zones. It aims to support communities who have lived or farmed in these areas before the Act took effect, allowing them to remain temporarily under strict conditions. The Royal Decreedefines key terms such as “household,” “community,” and “landholder,” and outlines eligibility criteria, land use limits, and conservation responsibilities for residents.
Residents must avoid harming ecosystems, refrain from expanding land use, and cooperate with authorities in forest restoration and wildlife protection. Violations, including illegal land use or environmental damage, can result in expulsion. The Royal Decree also makes provisions, inter alia, for administrative roles, enforcement powers, and dispute resolution mechanisms, ensuring that conservation goals are met while balancing the needs of local communities.
