Abstract
This Thailand’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) provides a strategic framework to build climate resilience and reduce vulnerabilities across six priority sectors: water resources, agriculture and food security, tourism, public health, natural resource management, and human settlements. Developed through a participatory process, the NAP aligns with national strategies and global commitments under the Paris Agreement. It sets short-, medium-, and long-term goals to integrate adaptation into policies, strengthen institutional capacity, and enhance data systems for informed decision-making. Specific sectoral goals are: Increased water security and decreased losses and damage from water-related disasters; Productivity and food security maintained amidst climate risks and impacts; Strengthened capacity of the tourism sector toward climate-resilience and sustainable development; Established effective public health systems to manage risks and reduce impacts from climate change; Sustainable management of biodiversity resources to respond to climate impacts; Enhanced capacity of Individuals, communities, and cities to adapt to climate change impacts appropriately according to the local context.
The Plan emphasizes ecosystem-based and nature-based solutions, gender responsiveness, and inclusive participation. Key measures include flood and drought management, climate-smart agriculture, resilient health systems, and urban planning to address heat and sea-level rise. Cross-cutting actions focus on research, technology transfer, finance, and monitoring frameworks. International support in funding, capacity building, and technology is critical for successful implementation and achieving climate-resilient development.
