The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan decrees to determine the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan the competent institution in the field of ensuring sanitary and epidemiological safety of the population and medical and biological safety. The Food Security Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan is determined competent institution in the field of food safety supervision, veterinary, phytosanitary control, control of quarantine of plants, seeds and breeding. The Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan is determined competent institution in the field of monitoring the protection of biodiversity and activities related to genetically modified organisms and reducing the risk of their adverse effects on human health and the environment and the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan is determined competent institution in the field of assessing the state of biological safety of laboratories for the physical protection of potentially dangerous biological objects and training specialists in the field of preventing the proliferation of biological weapons and biologically hazardous materials by authorized state bodies for ensuring biological safety and protection.
