Abstract
Development program for the rabbit breeding sector for the period of 2022-2026 was developed with the aim of further developing the rabbit breeding industry, ensuring food security, reducing poverty, increasing the production of dietary rabbit meat and expensive rabbit fur. The rabbit breeding industry is one of the profitable branches of agriculture and its development helps to provide the population with dietary meat, and the industry with skins and fur. In the Republic of Tajikistan, rabbit farming can also play a significant role in the development of the country’s economy, like other livestock sectors as the climatic and natural conditions of the country contribute to the development of rabbit breeding. Currently, rabbit farming is mainly developed in the private sector and more than 33-35 thousand households are engaged in rabbit farming throughout the country. As a result of the implementation of this Program, the number of rabbits in all categories of farms will be increased from 100 thousand heads to 360 thousand heads. Also, during this period, it is planned to increase the production of dietary rabbit meat up to 1000 tons, producing up to 500 thousand pieces of skins.
