Governmental Decree No. 343 validating Technical Regulation “Safety of packaging materials”.

Technical Regulation “Safety of packaging materials” establishes uniform mandatary use and compliance with the requirements for packaging materials (means of sealing/closing) ensuring safe and free transportation of commodities on the national territory. It shall be applicable to packaging materials authorized for circulation on the national territory regardless of the country of origin. This Technical Regulation establishes mandatory requirements for application and enforcement in the Republic of Tajikistan related to packaging (means of sealing/closing) and related requirements for the processes of storage, transportation and disposal, in order to protect human life and health, property, the environment, animal life or health, plants, as well as preventing actions that mislead consumers of packaging materials (means of sealing/closing) regarding its intended use and safety. Packaging shall be classified according to the materials used into the following types: (a) metal; (b) polymer; (c) paper and cardboard; (d) glass; (e) wooden; (f) from the combined materials; (g) from textile materials; and (h) ceramic. Means of sealing/closing shall be classified by the materials used into: (a) metal; (b) cortical; (c) polymeric; and (d) combined and made of cardboard. Packaging materials shall be labelled and identifiable and, prior to its authorization for circulation, must pass compliance assessment.
