Governmental Decree No. 500 validating the Concept of transition to sustainable development.

The scope of this Governmental Decree shall be to overcome socio-economic difficulties and ecological crisis as soon as possible and improvement of the living standard of the population with a view of ensuring stable socio-economic development, conservation of healthy and favorable environment and rational management of natural resources for meeting the demand of the present and the future generations. This Concept shall not be considered as a separate plan but is aimed at adapting ongoing actions at the national and the regional levels to the principles of sustainable development. The main priorities shall include efficient economic activity, rational consumption and careful use of natural resources. In the process of the transition to sustainable development the main tasks of the national policy shall be set as follows: (a) poverty reduction; (b) food security; (c) ecological security; (d) energy security; and (e) efficient management.
