Governmental Decree No. 589 validating the Statute of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

This Governmental Decree establishes that the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade is a central executive body participation in the implementation of state policy in all socio-economic sectors, concepts, short-term, medium-term and long-term strategies, programs and forecasts of socio-economic development and poverty reduction. The Ministry shall perform the following functions: (a) analysis and assessment of current economic situation; (b) improvement of statistical data collection and reporting; (c) drafts and prepares proposals for organization of trade; and (e) conducts marketing research with a view of promoting national commodities on internal and external markets.
