Governmental Decree No. 679 validating the Regulation on the procedure for state supervision and control over potable water supply.

This Regulation establishes the procedure for state supervision over potable water supply, the main tasks of state control and supervision, the system and the competence of state body in the sphere of potable water supply. State control and supervision in the sphere of potable water supply includes a combination of the following measures: (a) control and supervision over the organization of potable water supply, use and protection of its sources and systems; (b) control and supervision of compliance with environmental requirements during placement, design, construction, reconstruction, and commissioning of facilities and potable water supply systems in compliance with the established special modes of economic and other activities in the areas of their sanitary protection; (c) control and supervision over the implementation of sanitary norms and rules for placement, design, construction, reconstruction, conservation, liquidation and commissioning of facilities and potable water supply systems in compliance with the established special regimes of economic and other activities in the areas of their sanitary protection; (d) control and supervision of the state, use and protection of underground and surface sources of potable water supply in compliance with the established special regimes of economic and other activities in the areas of their sanitary protection; (e) control and supervision over the observance of the established rules and norms, state standard and regulatory requirements for potable water, as well as the control methods used in potable water supply; (f) control and supervision over compliance with construction norms and rules when placing design, construction, reconstruction and commissioning of potable water facilities in compliance with the regimes of territorial zones for the functional use of territories, settlements and other administrative-territorial units. This Regulation shall be mandatory for all legal entities, regardless of the form of ownership and natural persons performing their activities in the field of potable water supply on the national territory.
