Governmental Decree No. 790 validating the State Program of development of the Tajik Academy of Agricultural Sciences for the period of 2016-2020.

This Governmental Decree establishes the following tasks and fields of activity of the Tajik Academy of Agricultural Sciences: (a) creation of highly productive varieties and hybrids of plants, fruit crops and grapes, highly productive breeds and types of livestock; (b) collection, study and storage of genetic resources of agricultural plants and their wild related species, agricultural livestock and pathogenic microorganisms; (c) development of efficient technologies for growing agricultural plants, fruit crops, grapes and agricultural livestock; (d) development of effective methods for protecting plants and animals from diseases and pests; (e) creation of methods for improving soil fertility and its protection from degradation and salinization; (f) development and improvement of agricultural machinery and equipment; (g) conducting research on the development of the agricultural economy; (h) coordination of agricultural science in the institutions of the agro-industrial complex; (i) training highly qualified scientific personnel; and (j) promotion and implementation of scientific achievements. The main goal of the Program is to increase the effectiveness of agricultural research and the competitiveness of their results in the modern conditions of the reorganization of the industry, promoting and introducing scientific achievements that contribute to increasing agricultural production, ensuring food security and socio-economic development of the country.
