Governmental Decree No. 792 validating Program for the development of the breeding branch and animal breeding in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2016-2020.

The Program for the development of the breeding branch and animal breeding in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2016-2020 is designed to preserve the genetic qualities of breeds of animals, increase the number of breeding animals, improve genetic and productive qualities, and thereby ensure the needs of state, collective and dehkan (family) farms, cooperatives and the population by providing equipment and tools for artificial insemination of breeding animals and frozen semen of highly productive breeding bulls, rams and goats. The development of the breeding industry and stockbreeding contributes to the increase in livestock and animal productivity, the production of meat, milk thus ensuring the country's food security. This sector is of great importance in raising the standard of living of the population and in creating new jobs with a view of raising rural employment. The implementation of the Program shall be performed through the following arrangements: (a) methodical assistance and control over the course of pedigree work and animal breeding, regardless of the form of business entities; (b) creation of new units to improve the activities of existing artificial insemination stations, institutions for artificial insemination of animals and the provision thereof with breeding products (sperm); (c) examination and evaluation of highly productive animals in terms of the quality of offspring and productivity; (d) import of breeding animals and sperm of high-yielding bulls, sheep and goats; (d) creation of a frozen semen bank and a set of information systems of the service on animal genetic resources; and (e) training of staff in artificial insemination of animals and requalification of specialists. The Program shall be financed out of state budget and by national and foreign investments.
