Governmental Resolution No. 409 validating Program for the development of sericulture and processing of silkworm cocoons 2012 – 2020.

Program for the development of sericulture and processing of silkworm cocoons 2012 – 2020 is a multisectoral policy document with the scope of creation of conditions and preconditions for development of silkworm processing industry, increase in production volume of mulberry silkworm cocoons and their complete processing before release of silk fabric production on the internal market. The Program shall pursue the following objectives: (a) strengthening of normative and legal base, development of implementation mechanisms of legislative acts; (b) bringing of volume of production of cocoons to 3000 tons by 2020; (c) planting of mulberry seedlings in number of 1352,0 thousand pieces; (d) creation of mulberry plantations on the area of 2812 hectares; (e) manufacture of mulberry silkworm eggs up to 60000 boxes; and (f) processing of a cocoon inside the country. Expected results: (a) increase in production volume of mulberry silkworm cocoons to 3000 tons; (b) creation of conditions for restoration and development of silkworm processing industry in the Republic of Tajikistan; (c) provision of silkworm producers with quality local silkworm eggs; (d) increase of forage base of mulberry silkworm; and (e) provision of silk
