Law No. 1003 “On mountain areas”.

This Law regulates public relations related to mountain areas of the Republic of Tajikistan, is aimed at ensuring sustainable socio-economic development of the aforesaid areas, preservation, effective and rational use of natural resources. State policy on mountain areas is based on following principles: (a) preferential state support of mountain areas; (b) creation of favorable conditions for sustainable development of mountain areas; (c) protection of economic and ecological grounds of mountain areas; (d) access to public participation by natural and legal persons in the implementation of state policy in the field of mountain areas; (e) access to information on the socio-economic status of mountain areas; (f) rational and effective use of natural resources; and (g) ensuring favorable environment for the population of mountain areas.
