Abstract
This Law regulates relations in the sphere of apiculture production, use and protection of bees, efficient use thereof for pollination of agricultural crops, increase of the output of apiculture products and ensuring guarantees to natural and legal persons carrying out apiculture activity. Apiculture can be exercised by natural and legal persons as a form of entrepreneurial activity or as activity destined for individual personal needs. Bee farmers can form bee farming associations. The number of bee families owned by natural and legal persons shall be unlimited, except for restrictions imposed by local self-government of number of bee families and apiaries located in urban and inhabited areas in accordance with veterinary and sanitary regulations, and restrictions on the number on bee families and apiaries located in non-commercial subsidiary small-holding and horticulture cooperatives imposed by decision of the assembly of the members of cooperatives. Bee families and apiaries shall be subject to state registration. Natural and legal persons cultivating entomophilous plant, in order to raise yield thereof, can use bee families, owned by other persons, for pollination in accordance with contracts concluded with bee owners. Basic requirements for the protection of honeybees shall be: (a) protection of natural habitats, movement and migratory routes thereof; and (b) veterinary and sanitary servicing of honeybees.
