Abstract
The present Law regulates the relationship between consumers and producers and sellers of goods; it defines rights of consumers regarding the purchase of goods of adequate quality and safety; provides with respect to information regarding goods for sale; and provides for the education of consumers and other matters relating to the protection of consumers.
Article 3 sets out a general obligation of sellers to deliver goods that are produced according to accepted standards, whereas article 4 defines the right of the consumer to receive goods that are safe to health and property of the consumer and the environment. Articles 5 to 7 define the right of the consumer to information regarding goods, including works and services. Mention of information on food is made in article 5. Articles 8 to 13 define the duties and responsibilities of sellers, and the juridical protection of consumers. Articles 16 to 37 protect the rights of consumers directly related to the purchase of goods, including protection against defects of goods, and the right to the execution of goods and services. The last part of this Act provides for control on the safety of goods by Tajikgosstandart, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Nature Protection and other state bodies. (42 articles)
