Ministerial Decree No. 559 of 1997 on implementation of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan on selection achievements of agricultural crops.

The Government decrees to set up State Commission on Plant Variety Testing subordinated to the Ministry of Agriculture and to validate the Regulation thereof. The main tasks of the Commission are: 1. to carry out common state policy in the sphere of plant variety testing and protection of selection achievements; 2. to ensure legal protection of selection achievements; 3. to ensure efficient functioning of common state service for testing and protection of selection achievements; 4. to guide scientific research of subordinated enterprises, institutions and organizations; 5. to carry out international cooperation in the sphere of protection and management of selection achievements. State Commission is authorized to conclude contracts for carrying out testing and protection of selection achievements with competent legal and physical persons, and also with international organizations engaged in testing and protection of selection achievements.
