National Strategy for the Activation of the Role of Women in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2030.

National Strategy for the Activation of the Role of Women in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2030 is a nationwide policy document approved by the Government aimed at raising the status of women in society, including the activation of their role, the need to ensure gender equality and the implementation of gender policy. The Strategy defines the key directions od the state policy to enhance the role of women through implementation of the principle of equality of rights and freedoms of men and women, creating equal opportunities for its implementation by women, ensuring equal representation of men and women in various fields of activity, preventing and eradicating violence against women.
The main goal of the Strategy is to create the necessary prerequisites and conditions for the full manifestation of the potential of women in all spheres of social and economic life, the implementation of the state gender policy, mechanisms for the implementation of constitutional guarantees of equality between men and women, the prevention and eradication of domestic violence, the development of women's entrepreneurship, education of women, ensuring their broad participation in public life and, thereby, ensuring the sustainable development of the state.
The Strategy will address the following problems: (a) unequal participation of men and women in the civil service, especially at the level of holding positions with decision-making powers; (b) insufficient representation of women in the branches of government, their low representation in leadership positions in organizations with different forms of ownership; (c) existing old stereotypes about the role of women and regarding equality of women and men; (d) limited effective means of promoting women at the decision-making level; (e) lack of strategies and programs to promote women in government in the activities of political parties; (f) the imperfect activity of women's public organizations, the fragmentation of the efforts of women's organizations aimed at protecting women’s interests; (g) the presence of superstitions and social prejudices that prevent promotion and activation of the role of women; (h) insufficient protection of the rights and legitimate interests of women for achieving gender equality; (i) improper execution and implementation of legislative acts, concerning the family, women and children; (i) lack of political experience of women; and (j) creating conditions for the realization of women's economic rights and opportunities, ensuring their equal participation in society, ensuring gender equality in the field of employment, increasing the competitiveness of women in the labor market is one of the main goals of the Strategy.
