Decree-Law No. 11/2014 approving the Animal Identification, Registration and Circulation Scheme.

This Decree-Law, consisting of 31 articles divided into eight Chapters, approves the Animal Identification, Registration and Circulation Scheme. In particular, it establishes the identification regime for registration and movement of bovine, buffalo, equine, swine, sheep and goat animals within the national territory through the following requirements: a) Regularizing the identification and registration system for the above mentioned animals to ensure their verification and control of health conditions; b) Regularizing the transport and movement of these animal species in order to combat the illegal transit of cattle and prevent theft of animals.
