Decree-Law No. 37/2020 regulating Sale, Import and Production of Bags, Packaging and other Plastic Objects.

This Decree-Law, consisting of 45 articles divided into eight Chapters and one Annex, regulates Sale, Import and Production of Bags, Packaging and other Plastic Objects. It establishes the requirements for the sale, import and production of bags, packaging and other plastic objects and applies to the following single-use plastic materials and objects: a) Materials and objects made exclusively of plastic materials; b) Materials and objects with several layers of plastic joined by adhesive or other means; c) Materials and objects printed or covered by a coating; d) Layers or plastic coating that constitute a set of two or more layers of different types of materials; e) Plastic layers in multilayer materials and multimaterial objects. This Decree-Law also covers printing inks, adhesives and coatings found in single-use plastic materials and objects intended to come into contact with food and applies to all sectors of economic activity and at all stages of the manufacture, processing and distribution, with the exception of health and cosmetics. The Annex specifies the List of Authorized Substances.
