Abstract
This Decree-Law creates the National Authority for Minerals (ANM), as the regulatory entity for the mineral resources sector. ANM regulates, contracts and monitors economic activities linked to mineral resources, in harmony with the Government's sectoral policy. In particular, it is responsible to: a) Sustainably manage and use mineral resources; b) Assign authorizations and manage carry out mining operations; d) Carry out environmental inspections of mineral operations, in accordance with the Mining Code; e) Apply administrative sanctions and other additional measures for violations; f) Manage registry intended for recording information relating to mining operations; g) Advise the Government on all matters related to mineral resources, classification of minerals as strategic minerals and provide special measures in case of national emergency; h) Ensure that all equipment used in mining operations complies with applicable complementary laws and regulations and industry best practices; i) Establish security zones and restricted access zones to guarantee the safety of mining operations, etc.
