Government Decree No. 3/2025 establishing the conditions for awarding the subsidy under the School Feeding Programme.

The School Feeding Programme subsidy is awarded and implemented in accordance with the rules set out in Decree-Law No. 61/2022 of 24 August and, in the alternative, by Decree-Law No. 39/2024 of 27 November. The School Feeding Programme aims to achieve the following objectives: a) Ensure that all children and pupils attending public, private or co-operative pre-school and basic education facilities that are part of the State's public supply network have a daily meal that is healthy, balanced and essential for their development and encourage their participation in pre-school and basic education, promoting the teaching and learning process; b) Reduce the risk of poverty among school-age children; c) Reduce the rate of undernutrition and malnutrition among school-age children; d) Reducing the school drop-out rate; e) Promoting healthy eating habits among school communities; f) Promote the participation and socio-economic development of communities in the construction of a sustainable development policy; g) Contribute to the economic development of local farmers; h) Promote territorial cohesion.
