Abstract
This Government Resolution primarily aims to approve a voluntary financial contribution by the Government of Timor-Leste to the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre) in response to recent severe natural disasters affecting several ASEAN Member States. Its core objective is to support regional humanitarian operations, including emergency response, recovery efforts, and preparedness measures, in order to mitigate the impact of disasters that have caused loss of life, displacement of populations, and destruction of critical infrastructure. More broadly, the resolution seeks to strengthen regional cooperation, solidarity, and collective resilience in disaster management within the ASEAN framework. By financing the AHA Centre, it promotes coordinated action, rapid mobilization of assistance, and exchange of information among countries in the region. It also reinforces Timor-Leste’s commitment to international cooperation and humanitarian principles, ensuring that financial and institutional support contributes to more effective disaster risk management and the protection of affected populations.
