Government Resolution No. 8/2022 approving the National Policy on Climate Change.

This Government Resolution approves the National Policy on Climate Change. Its main objective is to establish a clear policy, according to which political principles and laws should be read and interpreted, through which mechanisms are established to clarify the way for the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to respond to climate change and through which the Government affirms its vision of becoming a climate-resilient country. In addition, it aims at promoting and protecting the right of citizens, “the right to a human, healthy and ecologically balanced environment” and to equip the people of Timor-Leste with the ability to face the adverse impacts of climate change and to thrive in accordance with the principle of sustainable development.
