Law “On the fundamentals of the national transport policy”.

This Law defines the basis of the state policy in the field of transport and regulation, management of transport activity in Turkmenistan. The main objectives in the field of transport policy include construction of trunk pipelines in new directions to increase the output of energy resources to foreign markets through diversification, establishment and development of cooperation with foreign countries and international organizations to ensure the provision of safe, accessible, reliable, environmentally friendly and weather-resistant transport services and implementation of measures to minimize and eliminate the harmful impact of vehicles on the environment, human life and health. The main directions of the state policy in the field of improving the environmental cleanliness of the transport system are as follows: (a) ensuring environmental protection and environmental safety of transport; (b) ensuring energy efficiency of the transport system of Turkmenistan; (c) turning environmental policy implemented in the field of transport into a driving factor in the development of the transport system; and (d) ensuring the rights of individuals and public associations in the field of public environmental impact assessment of transport activities and transport system facilities.
