Abstract
The present Law is aimed at rational and efficient use of hydro-carbon resources and conservation of natural resources of Turkmenistan for the future generations. The document consists of XI Chapters that contain 61 Articles. Chapter I (arts. 1-3) lays down general provisions. Chapter II (Arts.4-6) determines competence of the Cabinet of Ministers, authorized institution and concern in the sphere of use of hydro-carbon resources. Chapter III (Arts.7-22) regards licensing of oil prospecting activity. Chapter IV (Arts.23-27) regards agreements. Chapter V (Arts.28-35) regards carrying out oil extraction activity. Chapter VI (Arts.36-37) establishes the rights and the obligations of the contractors. Chapter VII (Arts.38-42) regards main pipe-lines. Chapter VIII (Arts.43-45) regards environmental protection. Chapter IX (Arts.46-49) regards finances and taxes. Chapter X (Arts.50-57) establishes legal terms and conditions. Chapter XI (Arts.58-61) lays down final provisions.
