Abstract
The present Law determines the main directions is aimed at the implementation of the state policy in the sphere of ensuring quality and safety of foodstuffs in the interests of the protection of public health and regulates the relations in the sphere of turnover of foodstuffs. The main directions of the state policy in the sphere of ensuring quality and safety of foodstuffs is carrying out common state policy for the provision of the population with qualitative and safe foodstuffs, prevention of manufacturing and import of low quality and injurious foodstuffs, state regulation and the formation and organization of the network of state inspection and supervision, registration of foodstuffs and information of the population on the issues of quality and safety of foodstuffs (art. 4). Veterinary norms and regulations shall be set for ensuring quality and safety of foodstuffs of animal origin (art. 7). Phytosanitary norms and regulations shall be set for ensuring quality and safety of foodstuffs of vegetable origin (art. 8). Certification of foodstuffs shall be carried out by the authorized institution (art. 10). Foodstuffs shall be packed and labelled (tag, brand label, ingredients data sheet) in conformity with the normative legal acts (art. 17). The requirements for the transport and storage of foodstuffs, alimentary materials and commodities shall have as purpose ensuring safety, quality and integrity thereof (art. 18). The Law consists of 5 Sections composed of 28 articles.
