Presidential Decree No. 2422 validating the Regulation on hunting and hunting management.

This Presidential Decree stipulates that wild fauna and birds classified as game shall be considered state property and part of the state hunting fund, which can be used for hunting, research, education and economic activities. Wild fauna species released to their natural habitat after captive breeding by organizations carrying out stock enhancement and repopulation of wildlife species shall be considered property thereof. The Ministry of Nature Management and Environmental Protection shall be the state institution responsible for hunting and wildlife management. Hunting shall be classified as commercial and artisanal. Hunting right shall be granted to Turkmen nationals that are members of hunting and fishing associations, and to foreigners registered at such associations after the payment of state fees and purchase of a hunting permit. Hunting shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant hunting permit and/or authorization. Artisanal hunting of precious wild animals and birds shall be subject to a hunting licence for a fee.
