Notice of the Minister of Agriculture, Food, Forests and Fisheries imposing a Moratorium on Sea Cucumbers.

The Minister of Agriculture, Food, Forests and Fisheries hereby determines that the long-term sustainability of sea cucumber resources for economic purposes is at risk. Accordingly, the harvesting, processing, and export of sea cucumber for commercial purposes from the island groups of Tongatapu, Ha‘apai, and Vava‘u are hereby suspended for the current year, subject to annual review thereafter. This Notice shall not apply to sea cucumber aquaculture activities.
