Ozone Layer Protection (Amendment) Act 2014 (No. 2 of 2014).

This Act amends the Ozone Layer Protection Act 2010 relative to putting into place of a quota system for the import Ozone Depleting Products, subject to Minister’s approval to grant permits. The quota system inform importers of the amount of HCFC’s they are allowed to import during the quota period (new Part IIIA). The Act also, among other things: replaces section 24 with a new Part (V) dealing with regulation-making powers of the Minister, delegation of powers by the Minister and transitional arrangements for import permits for HCFCs; prohibits importation of goods containing ozone-depleting substances; prohibits the bulk sale of controlled substance to any person or organization that does not hold a permit issued under Part III; prohibits, subject to exemptions the handling of any controlled substance; and provides with respect to the application for and the granting of a permit under this Act.
