Abstract
This Act amends the Shipping Act by listing international agreements that are implemented by this Act and by replacing entirely Part III of the principal Act. The Act also provides anew for some matters of miscellaneous character such as objects found in Tongan waters, offences committed by an owner or master of a Tongan ship and liability of Tongan and foreign ships. Part III concerns the registration and marking of Tongan ships. The list of international agreements includes the Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims and the SOLAS Protocols of 1978 and 1988.
