Abstract
The National Marine Seaweed (Limutanga’u) Fisheries Management and Development Plan lays down strategies for the overall management and development of Tonga’s Limu Tanga’u fisheries, including processing, harvesting, licensing and export. The objectives of this National Marine Seaweed Fisheries Management and Development Plan are long-term conservation and sustainable use of the resources, ecosystem preservation, economic development, subsistence fishery, employment generation, fair and transparent access to the resources, pollution control and waste prevention, improved data quality and scientific knowledge as the basic for management, industrial development, and consistency with international obligations.
