Abstract
The Act amends the Plant Protection Act, 1975 in section 4A which grants power to the Minister responsible for plant protection to issue an Order declaring notifiable diseases, prohibiting cultivation or harvesting or otherwise directing measures for the prevention or control of spreading of plant pests and diseases. It amends that section by inserting after paragraph (i), the following paragraph: (j) exempt any article from the application of section 3 where the Minister has determined that the article does not pose a phytosanitary risk; and .
