Abstract
The National Strategic Plan for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases provides strategic directions to an effective, coordinated national response to the priority non-communicable diseases, namely heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and stroke, and associated risk factors. The timeframe of the policy covers the period between 2017 and 2021. In order to reduce risk factors and promote health, this policy provides for increasing the availability, accessibility and consumption of healthy foods by developing policies on marketing of high fat, high sugar, high salt foods, and sugar sweetened non-alcoholic beverages in keeping with WHO guidelines, and policies on access to healthy nutrition for children along the life course.
