Abstract
The National Tourism Policy lays down overall, socio-cultural, economic and environmental goals to ensure sustainable tourism. The targets of this policy are: (I) significant increase in the contribution of tourism to GDP, (II) significant increase in visitor arrivals and tourist expenditure, (III) employment generation in the tourism industry, (IV) increased effect of tourism throughout the economy and particularly the agriculture, culture and sports sectors, and (V) monitoring of the implementation of the National Tourism Policy ensuring that development is consistent with the goals for responsible and sustainable tourism development in Trinidad and Tobago.
