Abstract
The following new sections are inserted in the Plant Protection Act, 1975: Section 4A which grants power to the Minister responsible for plant protection to issue an Order declaring notifiable diseases, prohibiting cultivation or harvesting or otherwise directing measures for the prevention or control of spreading of plant pests and diseases. Section 4B requires an occupier of any land to notify the occurrence of any notifiable disease to the Plant Quarantine Officer. Section 8A specifies the procedure which Plant Quarantine Officer shall follow for the eradication of diseases and pests. Section 8B concerns the quarantine of land. New definitions relative to fighting of pests and diseases are inserted in section 2.
