Abstract
This Act provides for the establishment, functions and powers as well as staff and the Board of the Special Economic Zones Authority. It lays down provisions on the funds and resources of the Authority; the designation of a Special Economic Zone; licensing; support measures; zone benefits; Customs arrangements; powers of inspectors; offences and penalties; public and private registers; transfer of property; and appeals. Schedule 1 sets out benefits for the operators, such as exemption from property tax obligation. The benefits for Special Economic Zone enterprises or single zone enterprises in the defined zones are laid down in Schedule 2. The types of Special Economic Zones and permitted economic activities are listed in Schedule 3, including business and specialized activities, such as fishing and fish processing and agriculture and agro-processing.

Entry into force notes
