Biosecurity (Amendment) Act 2024.

The Biosecurity (Amendment) Act 2024 amends the Biosecurity Act 2017 to introduce on-the-spot fine notices, enable electronic documentation, and regulate the use of shared government nformation and Communications Technology (ICT) systems for biosecurity purposes, entering into force upon publication. It updates key definitions, including recognizing electronic phytosanitary certificates consistent with International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) models. It also authorizes electronic submission and management of official documents subject to security safeguards and permits the Ministry to access shared government ICT systems, provided confidentiality and data protection measures are in place.
