Abstract
This Act provides for the control of importation of plants into Tuvalu and the eradication of diseases and pests affecting plants in Tuvalu. Section 3 provides for the appointment of Quarantine Officers. The Minister may, by Order, prohibit the importation or introduction into Tuvalu of any plants, including plants generally or specified plants generally or plants from any specified place, or specified plants from any specified place, and either absolutely or so as to allow the importation or introduction subject to specified conditions or restrictions (sect. 4). Section 6 prescribes further rules relative to importation of plants. Except with the express permission of the Agricultural Officer, no earth shall be imported into Tuvalu (sect. 8). Powers of enforcement of Quarantine Officers and Regulation making powers of the Minister are defined. The Minister may at any time by Notice declare any area within Tuvalu to be an infected area and prohibit the movements of plant material and plants into, out of or within that area (sect. 11). The Minister may make Regulations for the control of eradication of disease under section 13. (18 sections completed by 2 Schedules)
