Abstract
This Act makes provision for the protection of wildlife in Tuvalu.
The Minister may declare any animal or bird (but not fish) to be fully or partly protected. If partly protected, the Minister shall designate the area to which protection applies. The Act places restrictions on the hunting, capture or killing of fully or partially protected birds and other animals. Hunting requires a licence granted by the Minister. For partially protected birds, a close season shall be in force in the area to which protection applies. The Minister may declare wildlife sanctuaries and appoint wildlife wardens for purposes of this Act. The Act further defines powers of wildlife wardens, prohibits acquisition or possession of illegal wildlife, defines other offences and prescribes penalties for such offences.
