Hides, Skins and Leather Trade Act, 2008 (No. 18 of 2008).

This Act provides rules relative to the production of and trade in hides, skins and leather and makes provision for the control of such activities by the competent authority. It also provides for the establishment of a National Hides, Skins and Leather Advisory Committee and provides that local advisory committees shall be established by local government authorities.
Premises used for the curing, grading or storage of hides, skins or leather shall be registered upon completion of inspection and an environmental impact assessment. Owners of registered premises shall manage effluent in accordance with Regulations to be made under this Act.
