Abstract
This Act establishes the Kariakoo Market Corporation, provides for its functions, powers and internal organization and makes provision for the control and management of markets.
It shall be the duty of the Corporation to ensure that every specified market: is kept clean and does not constitute a hazard to public health, safety or general welfare; has an adequate supply of fresh water and, where possible, of electricity; and is managed in an efficient manner. The Corporation may, with the consent of the Minister make By-laws regarding a wide variety of matters including the examination of produce or articles of food to be sold in a specified market and prohibiting the adulteration of any such produce or article of food and the inspection of any produce, or article of food to be sold in a specified market.
