Abstract
This Act, among other things: establishes an institution called the Annual Council; establishes the Tanzania Meat Board and the Meat Industry Development Fund; provides for the registration of livestock producers, traders or livestock market operators by a Registrar appointed under this Act; and provides for other measures for the control of the meat industry. The Council shall, among others, promote the development of a sustainable meat industry in Tanzania and advise the Minister. The Board shall perform regulatory activities in meat industry in accordance with the provisions of this Act and carry out other advisory, promotional and control functions. The Act specifies regulatory powers of the Minister and defines offences.
